Preparation
1. Rinse the brown rice in a fine-mesh strainer under running water until the water runs clear. This step is important to remove excess starch and impurities from the rice.
2. Combine the brown rice, water, and salt in a small saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
3. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with the lid. Let the rice simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the rice is tender and most of the water has been absorbed.
4. Turn off the heat and let the rice sit in the covered pot for an additional 5-10 minutes to absorb any remaining liquid.
5. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot as a side dish or as a base for your favorite main dish.
